Top 10 Most Beautiful Campuses In Nigeria (2024)
Given the huge number of colleges in the country, compiling a list of the top most beautiful campuses in Nigeria was never going to be easy, but we managed to do so. Whether or not you agree with me on this is now a matter of how many people are on my side.
Regardless, the fact that a university’s buildings appear to be old does not exclude it from being included on this list; what matters is if the architectural designs and structures of the buildings have remained intact over time.
Yes, indeed! You’ll notice that a number of first-generation universities appear on our list, not because they have the best buildings, but because their architectural designs, landscapes, and structures cannot be compared to what is available at our newer universities, particularly private ones.
Nigeria has over 90 universities, including Federal, State, and Private institutions; you might consider this a reasonable number considering the country’s population.
The oil boom years of the 1970s resulted in the expansion of tertiary education to every sub-region of Nigeria. Previously, only the federal government and state governments were authorized to operate universities.
Individuals, corporations, and religious organizations have recently been awarded permission to open private universities in the country. Every state in the federation has at least one university.
Given the large number of colleges in Nigeria, particularly those with gorgeous campuses, anyone can disagree with my list of the ‘Top 10 most beautiful campuses in Nigeria,’ but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Top 10 Most Beautiful Campuses In Nigeria
Here are the top 10 most beautiful campuses in the country, which are spread over the length and breadth of the country. Wait until you’ve finished the list before raising your objections;
10. University Of Ibadan (University Of Ibadan)
U.I. is Nigeria’s most prestigious institution and the country’s oldest university. It arose from Yaba College, which was established in 1932 in Yaba, Lagos, as Nigeria’s first tertiary educational institution. In 1948, Yaba College was relocated to Ibadan and renamed the University College of Ibadan.
On November 17, 1948, the university was established on its own land. The University campus, despite its outdated structures, is nevertheless a sight to behold and has never stopped being one of Nigeria’s most beautiful and gorgeous campuses.
In the same way that U.I. Although may not have deserved first place on our list, it would be a sin not to include it in our top ten list of Nigeria’s most beautiful campuses.
9. Gombe State University
Although may not have deserved first place on our list, it would be a sin not to include it in our top ten list of Nigeria’s most beautiful campuses. Gombe State University is ranked number nine.
Gombe State University would not have made my list of Nigeria’s 10 most beautiful campuses if it weren’t for its spectacular terrain and natural beauty. So, kudos to this university in one of Nigeria’s most remote states for ranking 9th on this list, rubbing elbows with the big guns.
Gombe State University is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and one of the few new-generation universities on our list, having been founded in 2004.
8. Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (Funaab)
FUNAAB is the crown jewel of Ogun state, bringing a measure of renown to that section of Nigeria’s southwest. Aside from ranking eighth on this list, FUNAAB is the country’s most attractive Federal University of Agriculture.
The Federal Government founded the university on January 1, 1988, after de-merging four technology universities that had previously joined in 1984. As a result, the first two agricultural universities were established at Abeokuta and Makurdi.
7. Landmark University, Kwara State
Landmark University (LMU) is a Nigerian university in Omu-Aran, Kwara State. Dr. David Oyedepo started it as a private Christian university.
Landmark University was founded on March 21, 2011, by Living Faith Church Worldwide as the church’s second university. According to the chancellor, the establishment’s goal is to bring the agrarian revolution to fruition.
The name “Landmark” was chosen based on inspiration for how the school will run, according to Chancellor Dr. David Oyedepo. This is also reflected in the school’s motto, “Breaking New Grounds.”
6. University of Port Harcourt, Chaoba
The University of Port Harcourt is a university in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. It is, in fact, the only university on our list that is located in the South. The University of Port Harcourt began as University College, Port Harcourt in 1975 and was granted university status in 1977.
If you don’t want to leave the country’s south-south region yet want to attend a respected university, UNIPORT is the place to go.
5. University Of Lagos
This university undoubtedly has the most attractive female students of any Nigerian university. It’s been dubbed the “Federal University of Swag,” “University tohBadt,” and “The Raw Deal” by some.
The University of Lagos is Nigeria’s most sought-after higher education institution, not because of its natural beauty or its relatively magnificent structures, but because it is located in LASGIDI, the city where dreams come true.

4. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
ABU is the crown jewel of the north and the top institution in the region. ABU, Northern Nigeria’s oldest university, is named after the Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, Northern Nigeria’s first premier, who was assassinated in 1966 in an Igbo-led coup as a result of his defamatory deeds and inactions towards the Ibos. The University’s collection of the north’s bests is one of the best in the country.
3. University Of Benin, Benin City
Okay, I didn’t put this well-known institution first because those who know me well will scream bloody murder!
UNIBEN has always been a multi-talented organization, and its stunning structure is just one of its many impressive features. In fact, among Nigeria’s tertiary schools, Uniben most likely has the best gatehouse.
From the entrance to the campus and hostel, the University buildings are a class act and one of the best ever. Grace Alele-Williams created history in 1985 when she became the first Nigerian woman to be named vice-chancellor of a Nigerian institution. Until 1991, she was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin.
2. Covenant University, Ota
Covenant University is perhaps Nigeria’s best private university, with a stunning campus. This is the third university on our list that is privately owned, and the second that is owned by a corporation.
Living Faith Church Worldwide, led by Pastor David Oyedepo, made the cut. The university, which is located in Ota, Ogun state, is the most attractive higher education institution in the state, beating out FUNAAB hands down.
The University was founded as a private Christian university and is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. According to Webometrics, in January 2015, it was recognized as Nigeria’s finest university.
1. Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife
OAU, formerly known as the University of Ife, is Nigeria’s best university in terms of awe-inspiring and historic structures. Ife has so many amazing structures that you may think it’s a university dedicated just to civil engineers, architects, and estate surveyors making it number one on our list of the most beautiful campuses in Nigeria.
Oba Awon Universities, as the institution’s students refer to it, is without a doubt the most gorgeous Nigerian university ever. Now, I say that unequivocally because, if you objected to any of the preceding items on my list, I believe there will never be any objections to this one unless you have a particular grudge against Ife.
Oba Awon University is unquestionably the most prestigious of all Nigerian universities, as well as the most prestigious in Africa. Because its OAU rivals aren’t even in the country, no one should be surprised that it ranked first on our list.
On May 12, 1987, the university was named after Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a Nigerian legend and widely regarded as the best Nigerian President ever. The first Premier of the Western Region, whose visage is emblazoned on the 100 naira note.
Conclusion
So there you have it: my top ten list of the best Nigerian universities ever (top most beautiful campuses in Nigeria)
